Dear Future Fourth Grader,

We are so excited to have you join us at Shapleigh in the fall! We are hoping that you have lots of summer fun planned, along with plenty of reading. Over the summer, we would like you to write your teacher a postcard about a book that you read during the summer months. We encourage you to describe the book you have read, and why you enjoyed reading it. We are looking forward to getting to know you as a reader and this will be a wonderful first step!

You can mail the postcard to Shapleigh at 43 Stevenson Road, Kittery, ME 03904. You can also bring your postcard on the first day of school. We will be doing a fun activity with the postcards! Your postcard can be from a trip you take over the summer, near or far. (Fort Foster is a fantastic summer trip too!) You could also create your own postcard to go with your book.

Happy reading!

The Fourth Grade Team
